Summary of Works
Overall Description of Works
The works comprised extensive façade and roofing repairs carried out to the main building, caretakers house and reception building at this school situated on the edge of the Olympic Park in London.
The project included DOFF steam cleaning of the masonry façades using appropriate conservation methods, selective replacement of deteriorated facing brickwork, and the design, manufacture and installation of gauged brick arches. Historic stone date plaques were carefully restored and conserved, alongside the design, supply and installation of new natural stone elements to cornices, window heads and cills to match the existing profiles.
Structural repairs were undertaken to the masonry, together with reroofing of the historic turret roofs using natural slates, carefully dressed and laid to replicate the existing small slate sizes and gauges.
The works also included the installation of new leadwork to stringcourses and flashings, an upgrade of the lightning conductor protection system, and the installation of discreet bird deterrent measures to protect the building fabric.
