Overall Description of Works
The works comprise a logistically challenging programme of building conservation, restoration and refurbishment, including scaffolding design and complex access arrangements, licensed asbestos removal, specialist masonry cleaning, replacement, structural repairs and conservation. Further works include repairs and decoration to historic windows and doors, overhaul of glazed lanterns with timber repairs and glass replacement, and specialist decorative finishes to ornate architectural details. Roofing works include natural slate repairs, replacement lead roofing and associated leadwork, alongside the design, manufacture and installation of new roof level handrails and upgrades to electrical and fire alarm systems. Selected activities were undertaken out of hours to manage access constraints and minimise disruption.
