DOFF cleaning of the terracotta façades using mild detergents to carefully remove surface contaminants while preserving the integrity of the material.

Overall Description of Works

As part of an extensive programme of façade repairs and decoration, the works include DOFF cleaning of the terracotta façades using mild detergents to carefully remove surface contaminants while preserving the integrity of the material.

The scheme also incorporates the design, manufacture, supply and installation of replacement terracotta elements, including full bricks, cills, stringcourses, copings and decorative scrolls, to accurately match the existing architectural detailing.

Extensive repointing will be undertaken using appropriate lime based mortars in accordance with conservation best practice, together with the partial reconstruction of chimney stacks, involving localised dismantling and rebuilding to ensure their long term structural stability.
