Summary of Works
Overall Description of Works
The works comprised a comprehensive programme of external and internal refurbishment to a busy London primary school, forming part of a Grade II listed building, undertaken with careful consideration to minimise disruption to the school’s day-to-day operation.
The scope included DOFF steam cleaning to the masonry façades using appropriate conservation techniques, alongside the selective replacement of deteriorated facing brickwork carefully matched to the existing in colour, texture and bond. Gauged brick arches were designed, manufactured and installed to replicate the original architectural detailing, together with the design, supply and installation of new natural stone elements to cornices, window heads and cills to match the existing profiles.
Structural masonry repairs and strengthening works were also carried out, complemented by the installation of new leadwork to stringcourses and flashings in accordance with traditional detailing and best conservation practice. Additional works included the overhaul and decoration of rainwater goods to ensure continued performance and visual consistency with the historic fabric, the installation of a new clay tiled roof to the low-level extension, and the safe removal and disposal of asbestos containing materials within internal areas of the extension in accordance with current regulations.
Internally, plaster repairs were undertaken followed by full redecoration works to restore the building’s internal finishes.
