Summary of Works

Overall Description of Works

The works comprised DOFF steam cleaning to the masonry façades using appropriate conservation techniques, together with the selective replacement of deteriorated facing brickwork carefully matched to the existing in colour, texture and bond. Gauged brick arches were designed, manufactured and installed to replicate the original architectural detailing, alongside structural masonry repairs and strengthening works, including the careful dismantling and rebuilding of a gable.

New leadwork was installed to stringcourses and flashings in accordance with traditional detailing and best conservation practice. The project also included the design, supply and installation of large sash windows, which required complex lifting operations and coordinated internal and external access, followed by the preparation and decoration of the windows.

In addition, the rainwater goods were overhauled and redecorated, and underground drainage surveys and associated repair works were undertaken to identify and rectify defects within the drainage system.
