Summary of Works
Overall Description of Works
Working within a busy inner London church, the project required careful planning and coordination to ensure the building remained accessible while the works progressed. The scope included the design and installation of specialist access scaffolding to all elevations, including lightwells and parapets, to facilitate safe access to the structure.
Vegetation growth was carefully removed from the masonry surfaces and cappings, followed by the application of natural hydraulic lime render, incorporating dubbing out, scratch coats and a final coat, finished with traditional flaunching to projecting stonework. Localised repairs were undertaken to existing brickwork and stonework using compatible materials and conservation techniques, alongside repairs to areas of corroded structural steelwork.
The works also included the installation of a tapered roof system to improve drainage performance, together with new lead and zinc flashings detailed in accordance with traditional practice. Drainage surveys and cleaning of the existing systems were carried out, while historic rainwater ingress was carefully managed and mitigated throughout the duration of the project.
