Summary of Works
Overall Description of Works
Set within a busy central London church with highly restricted access, the works involved the design and installation of specialist scaffolding, including full access arrangements and hoisting facilities to safely reach roof level.
Careful masonry cleaning was undertaken using appropriate conservation techniques to remove accumulated soiling while protecting the historic fabric. The tower parapets were carefully dismantled, with masonry units set aside, exposed steelwork treated, and the parapets subsequently rebuilt.
New natural stone indents were supplied and installed, accurately matched to the existing stone in profile, colour and texture, together with the supply and installation of a new terracotta egg and dart moulding to replicate the original architectural detailing. Structural repair works were undertaken to stabilise and strengthen the masonry fabric, alongside the installation of a new lead roof to the front portico, complete with detailed lead water deflectors to improve rainwater management.
